Full-Service Repair You Can Count On

When you get into a fender-bender or the wrong part wears out and leaves you in a bind, it’s important to make sure that you go with a mechanic who knows your BMW. There are certain repairs that we tend to perform the most with these vehicles, with 3 examples of this being as follows:

  • Ignition coil failure – Ignition coils can take low voltage and fire it up into the spark that your spark plugs are famous for. Some BMW models have been known to have ignition coil issues and when they start to go out, misfires are one of the first symptoms to look out for.
  • Timing chain issues – Without enough oil or simply through hard use and time, timing chains can elongate and even snap. Along the way, misfires tend to occur, metal shavings can get in your oil, and you’ll usually notice a loss of power, as well.
  • Shaky steering wheels – If you notice a shaking in your steering wheel, especially when braking, then you might just have problems with thrush arm bushings. These rubber components are part of your suspension and tend to fail around the 75,000 mile mark and you’ll feel the difference when they do.

We use the latest available manufacturer tools and equipment for all repairs and also only use factory grade oils, fluids and materials to ensure your BMW stays at 100% original and can maintain the performance that you expect.

Preventative Maintenance to Keep Your BMW At Its Best

BMWs are rather like personal racecars, in that they need regular ‘pit-stops’ to stay at peak performance and power – more so than most other vehicles out there. For instance, every 5000 miles your BMW should have the following checked:

  • Brake inspection, both front and back, including a brake fluid check
  • Coolant check
  • Cabin Air filter inspection
  • Engine and engine oil check
  • Tire inspection (and possible rotation)
  • Overall vehicle inspection
  • Wiper-blade inspection

These vehicles aren’t just your everyday run-of-the-mill cars and this ‘5000-mile check’ helps to demonstrate this. With most cars, you have at least 10,000 miles between checks, but BMWs won’t do well if you treat them the same way. These are high performance machines and you need to treat them as such.

Louden Motorcars BMW FAQs

If you take care of your BMW, then yes, actually, they are in the top 5 for reliability when it comes to luxury cars. Where most people go wrong when it comes to these vehicles is preventative maintenance. A BMW should be brought in for preventative maintenance every 5000 miles.

This is certainly more often than most other vehicles, but fine performance must be fine-tuned on a regular basis. It’s as simple as that.

Overheating, oil leaks, and electrical issues are among the most common problems that BMW owners may face. As the BMW is a high-performance vehicle, its engine deals with a lot of heat and pressure, so the first two make a lot of sense when you think about it. These are easily preventable, however, with regular preventative maintenance.

As far as the electrical issues, some models experience problems with things like the power windows or dashboard lights, so you want to be certain your BMW mechanic knows their way around these vehicles and their wiring.

The answer to this question might surprise you, but BMW is actually the longer-lasting vehicle by a good 5 years – with 15 years or 200-250 thousand miles being the expected lifespan of these vehicles. By contrast, the Mercedes usually lasts 150 – 200 thousand miles, or approximately 10 years.
